




NEW $1000 HEARING AID SUBSIDY ANNOUNCED
The Ministry of Health has announced that from March 3rd 2010 the eligibility for hearing aid funding has changed. All New Zealanders will now be entitled to a $1000 subsidy on hearing aids.
The government has increased the hearing aid subsidy for all New Zealanders from $198 per hearing aid to $500 per hearing aid.*
Anyone over 65 with a SuperGold card will still receive a $500 subsidy per hearing aid.*
Adults in the workforce with a community services card will be eligible for fully funded hearing aids.
People with sudden and severe hearing loss, such as from a severe viral infection, will now qualify for a fully funded hearing aid whether they work or not.
Those people who are severely deaf from birth can now get fully funded hearing aids for the first time. Previously they were only eligible for a $198 subsidy.
