There are still around 500,000 Kiwis living with hearing loss who aren’t yet using hearing devices. We're here to change that by making it easy to find and connect with a local audiologist. Whether you want to follow conversations more easily, enjoy social occasions without strain, or simply hear the sounds you’ve been missing, our expert clinicians are ready to support you. With over 60 clinics nationwide, your local hearing care team is never far away — and they're here to help you rediscover confident, connected living.

Five simple steps during a hearing check

We have two free* hearing checks - a basic 15-minute hearing health check and a more in-depth 75-minute hearing assessment. The hearing assessment will follow along these five simple steps:

1. Lifestyle & Hearing Needs

Your audiologist will chat with you about your lifestyle and medical history to better understand your hearing needs. This helps them recommend the most suitable options for you.

2. Otoscopy

In this quick and painless exam, the audiologist checks your ear canal and eardrum to ensure everything looks healthy — and to see if there’s any blockage or excess wax.

3. Hearing Assessment

You’ll take a two-part test using headphones. First, you’ll press a button when you hear beeps at different pitches. Then you’ll repeat words to check speech clarity. It’s easy and fully guided.

4. Results & Analysis

Your results appear as a graph (audiogram), showing whether you have hearing loss and how mild or severe it may be. Your audiologist will explain what it means clearly.

5. Personal Recommendation

If hearing loss is detected, your audiologist will suggest suitable hearing aids based on your test results, lifestyle, and preferences — no pressure, just expert advice.

What happens after your hearing check?

Your audiologist will explain:

  • Whether you have a hearing loss

  • All about your hearing loss

  • What hearing solutions are right for you

  • Funding or subsidies to help with the cost of a hearing aid

Sometimes follow-up hearing assessments may be needed. Finally, if you would like have a free trial of devices, the audiologist will provide a pair for you to take home.
