Ensure battery door is closed properly.

Replace battery.
Sound outlets blocked with wax
Carefully remove wax using your cleaning tools. Replace wax filter if applicable.
Moisture in BTE (behind the ear) tubing
Inspect tubing and dry out. Use your drying kit every night and replace the drying tablet every two months if you are using disposable pods or reactivate your drying pod.
Hearing aid is not inserted properly into the ear
Re-insert hearing aid and check for snug fit.

Turn volume down slightly.

Caring for your hearing aids
The two most common causes of problems with hearing aids are wax and moisture. Always keep your hearing aids in a drying kit and open the battery door when they're not in use.
Keeping your hearing aid clean
Clean your hearing aids and ear moulds each day with a soft, dry cloth. Make sure your hands are clean and dry before handling your aids.
Never use cleaning fluids or solvents which could damage your hearing aids. Follow the cleaning instructions given to you by your audiologist.

Avoid heat
Avoid leaving your hearing aids in direct sunlight, near heaters and fires, or in your car.
Avoid damage caused by wax
Ear wax is one of the main causes of problems in ITE (in the ear) and RITE (receiver in the ear) hearing aids. Most come with a filter or other device to prevent wax from entering the aid.
Use the wax protection systems and tools daily to clean away any wax. Check with your audiologist if you have any questions about how to do this.

Avoid hair spray and makeup
Always remove your hearing aids before using cosmetics, hair spray, perfume, aftershave or suntan lotion, as the chemicals in these products can damage your hearing aids. Allow time for the product to dry, then clean and dry your hands before inserting your hearing aids.

Dampness and condensation can damage the circuitry and components in your hearing aids. Never wear your hearing aids while swimming, showering or in heavy rain. Do not leave your hearing aids in the bathroom. Dry your hair thoroughly before putting your hearing aids in.

Keep your hearing aids out of reach of children and pets
Dogs can be irritated if they can hear the whistling sounds of hearing aids and can chew them, if left within reach. Hearing aid batteries can be harmful if swallowed by children or pets. Contact your doctor or a vet if a battery or a hearing aid is swallowed.
