In April 2017, we became the world's first company to offer a full-service commercial TeleAudiology practice. This offering is part of our commitment to provide better hearing solutions to all New Zealanders, regardless of their location.

What is TeleAudiology?

Seeing an audiologist is difficult for some New Zealanders, especially in remote areas. At Triton Hearing, we aim to eliminate the challenge of distance through TeleAudiology. TeleAudiology is made up of communication technology which enables us to organise remote consultations and connect audiologists with clients, regardless of distance. This means we can deliver the same excellent care and service to our clients, even if the client and audiologist are hundreds of kilometres apart.
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the New Zealand Audiology Society and Australian Audiology have endorsed TeleAudiology as an appropriate service delivery model for the audiology profession. Furthermore, the quality of services delivered via TeleAudiology is consistent with the quality of face-to-face services. The New Zealand Ministry of Health has reviewed the technology and provided its initial support.

Te Waka Āwhina: Delivering better hearing to New Zealand

In 2019 we launched our Mobile TeleAudiology Clinic. This state-of-the-art technology, housed in our classic 1949 Bedford bus, Lady Penelope, took to the road to truly take Better Hearing to Kiwis across New Zealand and change lives.
We have used Lady Penelope for Innovation Days at clinics where clients can be assessed and fit with hearing aids on the same day. We also journeyed on a 17-day tour around the Mount Taranaki region of New Zealand, testing and fitting the elders in the region's Maori communities. You can read more about TeleAudiology and our Mobile Hearing Clinic, Penelope, here.
